INTERMEDIATE PREP CLASS

INTERMEDIATE PREP CLASS (Adult, Grades 8-12): Prerequisites: This level assumes the student has a basic knowledge of his/her chosen instrument. However, instructor will provide review as needed of: proper position and bow hold, ability to play scales using whole and half bow, to read music in the proper key and clef, ability to identify and play written rhythms.

Course Description: This class is designed for students who are seeking a refresher of old skills or to improve their technique, as well as for CMS Strings students who would like extra attention on technical challenges or foundational work. Want to jump back in? Join us as we tailor a class to suit your needs. Areas of focus may include note or clef reading, bow or instrument hold, playing in tune or in rhythm, getting back into a routine, or learning positions. Students will study or review Orchestra Expressions curriculum material covering the fundamentals of string orchestra playing, and review scales and other warmup materials. Additional study material will be provided to address each student's individual needs in a group setting. Unison, Two-, Three- and Four-part harmony is learned and performed through fun and sometimes challenging rounds. Many genres of music are covered in this class, both in performance and through developing listening skills. Questionnaire at the beginning of the course will identify areas of focus.

Student must rent his/her own instrument prior to the first class. Options: Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass.

Fee: $130 (12 Weeks)+ $10 Processing fee
